Are your dolls ready to celebrate Halloween? I’m still working on costumes for my dolls but I’ve been busy making Barbie Halloween decorations to share with you all. All you need to do to create a scary (but cute) Halloween scene is to download the printables and get cutting out! You’ll also find advice on how to make the pumpkins, candy and other decorations – all ready for the trick or treaters.
What you need:
- Printer
- White A4 card (I used A4 cardstock from Hobbycraft, 160 gsm thick)
- Glue stick
- Scissors or craft knife/ scalpel
- Needle and thread for the banners
- Tape
- Sticky tac
- 2 x Halloween Printables – download the pdf files below the images (hopefully your printer won’t result in stripy bats like mine did!)
How to assemble:
The first printable includes four framed Halloween pictures, a Photo Booth frame, bats and a ‘boo’ sign. All you need to do is cut out the pictures and stick to your room scene using sticky tac.
The second printable includes a ‘Happy Halloween’ banner and ‘Boo’ banners in both pink and orange. Choose your favourite colour, print, then cut out. You could also mix and match the two colours. To assemble the ‘Happy Halloween’ banners, string the letters together using a needle and thread. Leave the ends of the thread nice and long so you can tape the ends at the back of your scene. To assemble the ‘Boo’ banners, fold the top of the banner over. Knot a length of thread (about three times longer than the top of the banner) and secure the thread under the fold using tape.
How to make the other decorations
Pumpkins
I made the pumpkins using air drying clay. When dried, I then painted them with acrylic paints. I added some rose gold foil to the orange pumpkins for contrast.
Sweet bowl
My daughter made the sweet bowl using air drying clay, and decorated it using paint markers. The sweets are made using printables from Migue Miniatures.
Star banner
The star banner is made using co-ordinating plastic star beads, strung on knotted thread. The colourful skulls on the mantelpiece are also plastic beads.
Other decorations
The plastic spiders, skulls, and skeleton are all from a pack of Halloween decorations from The Range.
Have a Happy Halloween and watch this space for more doll Halloween fun. I share everything for free because I want you all to enjoy the things I create for dolls – if you like what I do, please share with others on social media and spread the love!
